Having children is maybe one of the largest decisions any two people can make. Commitment

We as a species have come so far and are at an inflection point in our civilizations evolution. Technology has presented us with existential and social consequences that have begun to redefine how we connect and relate to one another. These changes are also changing at an ever increasing pace making it seem impossible to keep up with the world. The marketed "abundance" of optionality has played on the pschology of "the grass is always greener" and poisoned us with analysis paralyses. As a result we are ever so dissatisfied and ever dreaming of how our life could be better or how our partner could be better. The is not to say that finding the right person is important and worthy of critical thought, but rather to say that our ability to commit to things in general has been declining.

The World is Bigger than you

You are the freak of nature, a by product of thousands of years of evolution, the epitome of life as we know it. Your bloodline has for generations persisted across time. What are you going to do with this gift handed down to you by your parents and grandparents? To take this life without passing it on might seem selfish when you consider all that has happened for you to stand on the ground with your own two feet.

Now if and when you have children, your world becomes bigger. Your life no longer is about ME but about your family. It's about preserving your bloodline, supporting your family, and passing on your knowledge to your legacy. This opens your world just a little bit from yourself to your family.

Having a child is the most curagious thing you can do. In the face of all the change and crazy in the world you make the statement, "We are going to make it" when you have a child.
